Achillion Palace Tour

Activity: Moderate

Guests must be able to walk approximately 1/2 mile over even and uneven surfaces and be able to walk up a staircase. A hat, sunglasses, lightweight clothing and comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Achillion palace is situated at the south-east part of the island in a village called Gastouri and the name of the building was given by Sissy as her favourite hero was Achilles. We will walk through every room of the palace, admire all the pieces of furniture and art and  then we are going to stroll through the magnificent gardens and the main Terrace of the Muses, decorated with statues of the Nine Greek Muses and the imposing figures of Achilles Victorious and Achilles Dying  and enjoy the fantastic view from the terrace.

After our visit at the Ahillion palace we are going to drive along the east coastline towards Kanoni area (the landmark of Corfu) where we can take some amazing photos of Vlacherena church and the mouse island.

Our next stop is in the the historic center of the Old Town of Corfu,  a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There we are going to walk through the narrow, winding cobblestone streets and the little alleys of the city known as “Kadounia”,  admire the local architecture which was influenced by the Venetians, the French and the British. See the most significant sights like the famous Liston with the spectacular arcades, the Esplanade square which is the largest in the Balcans, the Old Fortress, St George and St Michael’s Palace an imposing building built entirely of yellow Maltese stone which is nowadays housing the Asian art museum of Greece, the cricket pitch and Saint Spyridon’s church the patron Saint of the island.You will feel the rich heritage of the city and you will learn about the daily life.
